Come and see us this Autumn for Easter, Gather Round & Mother’s Day 2026
Autumn is our favourite time of year in the Barossa. Vintage is underway, the vines are turning golden, and the valley has that particular energy that only comes when the grapes are coming in. It’s a special time to visit. This year, we’ve got a few very good reasons to make the trip. We’re hosting special guided tasting events across three big weekends this autumn, and we’d love to see you at the cellar door.
Over Easter 2026, the cellar door will be open Saturday, Sunday and Monday (please note we are closed Good Friday), and on Saturday and Sunday afternoon we’re running two special tasting experiences.
Gather Round brings the entire AFL world to South Australia. If you’re making a weekend of it, the Barossa is just 45 minutes from Adelaide and absolutely worth the detour. Barossa Park is a short 10 minute drive to Lyndoch from Liebichwein cellar door. We’ll be open all Gather Round weekend with both tasting experiences available. It’s a great way to bookend a big footy weekend with something a little quieter and a lot more delicious. Pull up a chair in the barrel hall, pour a glass of aged Barossa Shiraz, and let the good stuff sink in.
Choose from our Barossa Fortified & Sweet Snack Pairing – four of our finest fortifieds matched with chocolate, dried fruit and sweet popcorn or our Museum Red Wine & Snack Tasting, a guided flight of Barossa red wines aged between 10 and 20 years, paired with South Australian savoury snacks and crackers. All the fortified wines served are medal-winning from the Barossa Wine Show where Liebichwein has been named Best Fortified producer and Best Small Winery in recent years.
Both tasting experiences are available between 12-3pm on:
- Easter Saturday and Easter Sunday April 4 & 5
- Gather Round weekend April 10, 11 & 12
- Mother’s Day weekend May 9 & 10
Make sure to set aside 30 minutes during cellar door hours to fully relax and indulge in this sensory delight. Bookings are essential to secure your place at this self-guided tasting. Don’t miss your chance to enjoy a rare treat that perfectly captures the essence of Liebichwein’s heritage and passion for fortified wines. Both tasting experiences are $20 per person and both are genuinely wonderful ways to spend an afternoon in the Barossa. Bring someone you love and let us do the rest.

Liebichwein are extremely proud of their successful results at the 2024 Barossa Wine Show. Not only did Ron and Janet take home a trophy for Best Fortified Wine, they were awarded the trophy for Best Small Winery. All Liebichwein fortified entries got medals and high average scores. These wines are a testament to Ron’s 50+ years of experience in growing grapes and making wine in Barossa Valley.
The Top Gold and Best Fortified Trophy for Rare Tawny is extra pleasing as it’s like a family heirloom with a rich history. This wine is a premium aged blend of parcels that sit patiently in oak barrels for up to 50 years developing richness and depth of flavour. Some barrels have been in the family since Ron’s grandfather Benno Liebich was making wine. The final Tawny blend is an average 30 years old. Grenache grapes grown on the Liebich property are harvested at ultra ripeness late in vintage when the berries shrivel and sweetest ripest flavours are accessible.
Previous years have seen Rare Fronti and Rare Muscat get similar honours in the Best Museum Fortified Classes at the Barossa Wine Show. These are special limited releases that have taken decades to develop richness, complexity and depth of flavour. We think of them as “liquid gold”. Every time we take a sip, we think of the “angels share”, the wine that evaporates to the heavens during the ageing process.
Liebichwein results 2024 Barossa Wine Show:
- Rare Tawny NV Grenache 30 Year Old won TOP GOLD
- Grand Semillon won GOLD
- Classic Semillon won SILVER
- Grand Tawny won SILVER
- Classic Muscat won BRONZE
All entries from around the Barossa region were of such high calibre, we’re proud to be among the same company. Congratulations to all other medal and trophy winners. Many thanks to the sponsors Cooperages 1912 Australia, Tarac Technlogies, the Barossa Wine Show team and Barossa Wine.

Leveret is the French term for a baby hare, which narrowly escapes being run over by the tractor from row to row.
Liebich Leveret Shiraz is a single vineyard 100% Shiraz for fans of Barossa reds. The fruit grows on 33 year old vines on the Liebich property in Rowland Flat in the eastern foothills of Rowland Flat, where heavier red brown black soils predominate.
Traditional techniques of hand plunging, basket-pressing and bottling without fining or filtration, all help to preserve the essence of fruit. All Liebich reds are vegan friendly due to no fining. Older vintages are very low in sulfites as any initial sulfur dioxide has been used up over extended time in bottle. Maturation for 24 months in seasoned American and French oak has delivered a complex wine with intense dark berries balanced superbly with spiced vanillin oak flavours.
This wine was bottled under screwcap to immortalise the magnificent flavours beyond the life span of cork. It will reward cellaring for at least 10 years. We recommend serving with any pizza or pasta dish and richly flavoured foods.
2018 Taste Notes: Deep burgundy red. Bouquet of ripe dark berries, cherries, dark chocolate and vanilla spice. Lush chocolate flavours coat the mouth like velvet with bold dark berry fruit length. A medium to full-bodied wine with subtle oak tannins, a silky smooth palate and excellent length.
All Vintages Produced: 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018

Liebich Lofty Cabernet Sauvignon is wine of great quality and character dedicated to Ron’s father, “Lofty” (Lesley Alwyn) Liebich (1916-1953) who was a man with high ideals. Produced in special vintages since 1992 when the cellar door was established.
Single vineyard wine sourced from the old 40 acre block, planted by Clarence Walter “Darkie” Liebich in 1969. Dead arm affliction reduces yield but enhances flavour as does the use of hand-pruning and minimal irrigation. The vines grow on heavy black biscay soil at Rowland Flat on the eastern foothills of the Barossa.
Special museum stock is released as it becomes available. The last vintage 2006 bottled under The Lofty label was a very good growing season resulting in an extremely low yield of 1 tonne per acre. Traditional techniques of hand plunging, basket-pressing with no fining or filtration were employed for fuller flavour.
A typical Liebichwein Cabernet Sauvignon is a rich and enticing wine exhibiting violet and spiced blackberry fruit nuances perfectly balanced with the subtle oak after maturation for over five years in various aged French oak barrels. Super concentrated flavours and ultra silky tannins. This style of Barossa Cabernet Sauvignon will always be good drinking and will reward patience with bottle maturation for at least 15-20 years.
